I'm a dork!

This week at the Elementary School is SEP week. That means the kids grades 1 thru 5 get out early and the Kindergartners don't go at all, except to their scheduled testing time. You all know what's coming, right? Anyway, Monday, I walked Jordyn and Max most of the way to school and sent them off with a kiss and a hug. Jake, Buster and I all walk home and about 10 minutes later I get a phone call telling me to come get Max cuz he doesn't have school that day. D'oh!! I'm a dork, lol!

Max's New 'Do

Mom, can I make my hair spikey with Jello-O today?

Max is 5!

Happy Birthday to my Max! He turned 5 yesterday, I can't believe it. He started kindergarten 2 weeks ago and is loving it so far. Yesterday Jake and I took in some brownies to his class for a treat, he really enjoyed that. Tomorrow we are having a small party for him.

Happy Birthday, big boy!

Love, Mom

All about Jake

I am trying to get Jake into Speech Therapy through the School District. Last week we had an appointment with the Therapist and tomorrow we have another appointment to set things up. I had to take in his shot records and apparently he wasn't up to date on them, like I thought! So, this morning I had to take him in to get to shots. I think it was the MMR and the Chicken Pox vaccine. My kids absolutely love going to the dr. They love the toys and they have a big fish tank with Nemo and Dori fish and sometimes we get to see the starfish! Anyway, all we had to do this morning was get the shots, so we got there right before 9 and went right back. That little stinker is so strong! I'm so proud of him, though. By the time the nurse got the band aid on him he had stopped crying and was so excited to pick out of the treasure chest and get a sticker and a sucker! I was gonna take a pic, but my camera batteries are dead and I don't have any more.

Also, we are still working on potty training him. He's getting there. I think he would be fully trained by now if his mom wasn't so lazy about it! But, to the point. Yesterday I had him go potty before we had to pick up Si from school and I remembered that he usually does his poopy at about that time of day. After he went pee I sat him on the toilet and told him to poop in there and he did! YAY!!! He was also dry when he woke up this morning and has been dry all day and it is now 11. I was going to start putting him in underwear today, but we had that appointment and another one tomorrow, so I think we'll try regular underwear on Monday when we don't have to go anywhere and I don't have to work. Wish us luck!

Go Jake!!

Kids and cell phones

Yesterday I had to go talk to Jordyn's teacher before school. We were walking through the halls and I saw a girl ahead of us. Just then she dropped a cell phone and picked it up. I heard her say into the phone, oops, I dropped my phone! She looked younger than Jordyn (who is in 2nd grade) Then I saw her walk into a 1st grade classroom! Unbelievable!

I think 1st grade is WAY too young to have a cell phone!

I do understand the need for older kids to have cell phones. Rob and I were just discussing it the other day. I have a prepaid cheapy cell and we are thinking about getting me a new one. Then Rob mentioned that it would be nice for Si to have a phone for when he goes to friends houses or school activities or whatever and we can reach him and he can reach us. So, we are mulling over handing my prepaid over to Si. There will be restrictions and he won't have it all the time, but I think it would be good to have.

Goodreads

A few months ago my friend Kim introduced me to Goodreads. Oh how I love this site! I used to read non stop, but the past few years I kind of shoved reading to the side, but when I found Goodreads I took it up again. I found so many good books that I dove back into reading headfirst. I don't read as many books a week as I used to, but I'm definitely reading more now than I did a year ago. Go check it out, I hope you'll love it as much as I do.

If you want to add me as a friend, leave me a comment I'll send you my info.

Netflix, anyone?

How many of you out there love netflix?

Me, me!! I absolutely love this program. For about $18 a month I can get 3 movies at a time and mail them back when I'm ready and not pay ANY late fees. That was the kicker for me, NO LATE FEES! I'm notorious about having lots of late fees. I've had up to $100 in late fees at one time in my life. How crazy is that?

I also love that they have a ton of movies to choose from, plus TV shows, past and present. I'm currently working through the Stargat SG1 series. Yes, I'm a Stargate Geek. I even bought the new Continuum movie cuz I couldn't wait to see it and knew we would watch it again. The whole family loves Stargate. Pssst, I even heard they are gonna do a Stargate Atlantis movie and a 3rd spin off Stargate series. I'm so excited!

Ok, I'm off my tangent. I also like that I get my movies really quickly and hardly ever have to wait for them. Every great once in a while Rob and I will go up to Redbox and get something for the night if nothing we have in from netflix is calling our name, but not very often. AND if we do the Redbox thing I always go to insideredbox.com and get free codes to get our moves for FREE. Gotta love free!

So, if you are a netflix subscriber, what do you like about it?

Where did he come from?

About 3 weeks ago Rob noticed we had a roadrunner in our yard and he came to get me to take some pictures of him. It was so neat. We got fairly close and he stuck around for quite a while. Max even got to check him out. These are the best pictures I got of him, though.

Last weekend Rob also noticed some kind of small, predatory bird (some kind of hawk, we think) in our back yard eating something. We watched him for a really long time. He was also very interesting. I think Rob got pics of him on his camera. After he left I went out to see if he left any evidence of what he had been chowing down on. Sure enough, there was a small bird leg in the grass. I got some plastic bags and threw it away because I didn't want Jake messing with it, or Buster eating it.
