Birthdays

I have really been ignoring the ol' blog lately. I know, I know, I say that alot. In the past few weeks we have had 2 birthdays at our house. Si turned 12 (I know, 12! How can I have a 12 year old!!) on the 29th of October. My birthday was on Monday and I turned 31. Wow, how did that happen??

We had a really low key party for Si the Sunday after his birthday. He picked out a yellow cake with chocolate frosting and Neopolatin ice cream. He had been wanting a hoody for several months so we got him one and a Star Wars baseball cap. Grandma Jan got him an electronic Sudoku game.

My birthday was a really hectic day, but it turned out good. I was gonna make myself a lemon pudding cake that I made several years ago, but didn't get a chance to. Instead Rob surprised me with a cookies and cream cake from the store. I'm not normally a fan of store bought cake, but this one was pretty good. The kids liked it and they all fought over the oreo's on top!

So there's our Oct/Nov birthdays. No more in the immediate family until Jakes in Feb.

It was too cute

Saturday Rob's grandparents came to town to visit and take us to lunch. They made it to the restaurant before us and were sitting on a bench, waiting for us and visiting with another couple across from them. All 4 kids converged on them for hugs and kisses. There wasn't enough room for Jake to squeeze in, so he turned around and saw the other couple sitting there and went right up to them to get hugs from that other set of grandparents. They were a little startled at first, but rolled with it. After he gave out his hugs he started talking with them, asking their names. I think they enjoyed the hugs and attention from a cute 3 year old!

Look, Mom! No training wheels!

Yep, last week Rob took the training wheels off of Max's bike! He was so excited when Rob asked him if he wanted them off.

Raptor Romp!

I've been bad at updating on here. I've been meaning to do a post about the Raptor Romp for at least a week. I've finally got a minute and the pictures put on the computer, so I'll try and put together a post.

October 9th was our Elementary school's annual PTA fundraiser carnival. It's always lots of fun. I took the night off of work, so our whole family was there and then Grandma Jan and Grandpa Dave were able to be there, too. Grandma Jan had to work that night, but was able to take her lunch hour during that time, so she was there for Jordyn and Max's dances. I'm actually really thankful she was there, because when I got to the school and started to take pictures I realized that my batteries were dead! That hardly ever happens to me because I usually keep an extra set in my camera case, but those were dead too!

The Kindergartner's did a dance to a dinosaur song that was really cute. Jordyn dance was 50's style with hula hoops. For the life of me I can't remember what song Jordyn's grade danced too! That's what happens when you wait a week or more to write things down!! Oh, and after all the grades were done with their individual dances everyone met back on the field and did the chicken dance together. It was pandemonium!

Here are some pictures
